Material composition, color, coating, focus, settings and pass count all affect the result. Run a small test on the actual blank before production.
Use the 20W fiber laser for metal-focused work
The fiber source is the LP5 advantage for direct metal processing. LaserPecker lists stainless steel, aluminum, brass, silver, platinum and titanium among its supported materials, together with compatible plastics. Typical jobs include deep engraving, 3D relief, high-contrast marking, color effects and tested thin-metal cutting.
Cutting depth is not a fixed promise. Alloy, thickness, focus and pass count matter, so a manufacturer example should be treated as a starting point rather than a guaranteed production setting.
Use the 20W diode laser for wood, leather and acrylic
The blue diode source is the practical starting point for non-metal work such as wood signs, leather goods, paper packaging and black acrylic. LaserPecker also lists glass, rock and rubber, but surface preparation and material formulation can change the outcome.
Do not process PVC, vinyl or an unidentified material. Use suitable extraction or ventilation, eye protection, supervision and an enclosure where the job or venue requires it.

Can LP5 engrave and cut metal?
Yes. Its 20W fiber source supports metal marking, deep engraving, relief work and tested thin-metal cutting. Test the exact alloy, finish and thickness before production.
Does every LP5 package include the safety enclosure?
No. Select a package that explicitly lists the LP5 Safety Enclosure when enclosed operation is required.
Is LP5 a better fit than LP4 for metal work?
LP5 uses a 20W fiber source, while LP4 uses a 2W infrared source. LP5 is the stronger choice for deep metal engraving, relief and faster commercial production; LP4 remains the lighter portable option for marking and mixed-material personalization.
